Selection And Eligibility Criteria

How we select Fellows for the program:

Applications for our 2024 cohort will open in January and our first intake will be in March, 2024. If you would like us to contact you about future application cycles, please register your interest using the form at the bottom of the page.

We are espectially keen to support applicants: who live in East Africa (in particular: Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Congo, Burundi, South Sudan, and Rwanda), although we can also accept applicants who are citizens of other African countries who are in need of significant access to networks that connect to them to opportunities and position them to have impact within their communities and countries.

Selection Criteria

Your application should give us a clear idea of you, your values and your work, in relation to the following criteria:

Experience

Deep commitment to social impact, backed by some volunteer experience or involvement in activities that advance your community/country. The Fellowship’s focus isn’t age, but rather experience.

Clarity of Vision and Future Impact

  • Innovative ideas, a clear sense of purpose, the courage to pursue lasting and meaningful change, and a plan for using the learning offered by the programme to produce real future impact, through an idea for a project.
  • Readiness to develop as a leader in ways that embrace and advance communities.
  • Potential to be instrumental in shaping an inspiring vision, direction and agenda for transformation in specific geographies, fields, professions and beyond.

Commitment and Readiness

  • Interest in learning from and engaging with different perspectives and experiences from across a range of contexts, and a willingness to navigate the challenges and opportunities.
  • Openness to fully engage with other fellows on a learning journey, including the intellectual and personal transformation this process entails.
  • Willingness to actively contribute to a sustained peer-led, values-driven community.
  • Commitment to work with and support others in achieving individual and collective impact.

FAQs

  • How much does the program cost?

    The program cost has been highly subsidized to $300. It will be communicated in the program handbook/brochure.

  • What is the location for the program?

    Our fellowship program is predominantly virtual to allow everyone learn from where they're. In-person and site-visits engagements for practice & experimentation will be arranged as well and communicated in detail to fellows.

  • Can I apply if I already have an idea and a team?

    Yes! We are looking for top talent and would love to have you at our fellowship. You will gain access to our network and equipped to lead your venture into the next bold move.

  • Can I apply if I don't have an idea yet?

    Yes you can! We’re set up like an accelerator and look for great future entrepreneurs and leaders whether you have an early stage venture, an idea or no idea yet.

  • Can we choose our own roommates?

    When in-person sessions are arranged, our team will be handle the process. Our intention is select changemakers from across Africa. This is the perfect time for you to meet other people! Each cohort will have people from different countries, which allows each person to learn from people with different backgrounds and nationalities. This will help you see the world through different perspectives and lenses and grow your network.

  • Are we expected to have/bring our laptops/computers?

    Yes, you need to have your own computer/tablet. And when we have in-person sessions,you are allowed to carry a laptop/tablet.

  • Can we go out exploring on our own during the course of the program?

    Of course! We encourage you to explore but our team releases guidelines about this.

  • What is the SIM Card provider you recommend to us?

    We recommend choosing one that works best for you. During in-person sessions, our team will guide fellows on the best plans.

  • Will I get a certificate?

    Yes!

  • Is there free Wi-Fi?

    Yes, but depends on where we’re conducting the training from during a particular module.

  • What will I take with me once I graduate from this program?

    You will have the opportunity to grow your own networkof fellow leaders, entrepreneurs,mentors and like-minded individuals who serve as your support system. You will also take with you tools & skills to apply directly where you lead.

  • Will we visit places during the program?

    Yes, our team will work to connect you all to networking events and learning trips to selected East African countries for a holistic experience.
